Introduction: Achieving peak performance in sports is a multifactorial phenomenon that includes genetics, nutrition, physiology, biomechanics and psychology. Nowadays, in addition to sports training, the use of supplements is used to increase the performance and improve the efficiency of athletes. Beetroot juice (BRJ) food supplement, as a natural source rich in nitrates that occurs naturally in vegetables, when nitrates are consumed, they are broken down by anaerobic bacteria in the oral cavity by the enzyme nitrate reductase and then in the stomach to Nitric oxide (NO) is converted. NO is a messenger molecule that has the ability to improve vascular function, mitochondrial and respiratory efficiency, glucose homeostasis and muscle contraction.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of beet juice supplementation on some performance factors in athletes.
The research method of this study aims to investigate the effect of beetroot juice supplementation on some performance factors in athletes.
Findings: The present study showed that beetroot juice supplementation increases aerobic and anaerobic capacity, increases muscle performance and endurance, increases antioxidant capacity, reduces pressure perception, and lowers blood pressure and heart rate in athletes.
Results: Consuming beetroot juice supplement is a good way to improve sports performance and achieve positive training adaptations.
